On its sixth anniversary, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has reiterated its dedication to providing safe, affordable housing and fostering sustainable communities across the Philippines. The celebration, which kicked off on February 9, 2025, aligns with the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) program, a flagship initiative under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. aimed at addressing the nation’s housing needs.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar emphasized the department’s focus on transformative housing projects during the weeklong event themed ‘Six Years of Empowering Lives: Building Homes, Building Futures for Every Filipino Family.’ The festivities began with an exhibit showcasing ongoing 4PH projects and financial options provided by key shelter agencies.
Throughout the week, attendees can benefit from free legal consultations, detailed information on 4PH projects, and direct assistance from the Pag-IBIG Fund for housing loans. Additionally, programs from the National Housing Authority, the Social Housing Finance Corporation, and the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation will be highlighted.
DHSUD will also host two live episodes of ‘Kapihan sa DHSUD: Housing Matters’ on its official Facebook page on February 11 and 13, featuring discussions with local leaders and beneficiaries of DHSUD initiatives. A ceremonial signing of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and Provincial Development Physical Framework Plan for various cities and provinces, including Angeles City and Agusan del Sur, is scheduled for February 13.
The anniversary celebration will culminate on February 14, focusing on DHSUD’s achievements and its ongoing efforts to tackle the country’s housing backlog, with senior government officials in attendance. The event underscores the department’s commitment to the Bagong Pilipinas governance model, promoting sustainable and inclusive housing solutions.
To foster team spirit, DHSUD will organize a fun run on February 16, involving employees from the department and its key shelter agencies. This anniversary not only marks a celebration but also signifies a renewed commitment to policy development and the provision of affordable housing, aiming to enhance lives, strengthen communities, and build a brighter future for the Philippines.
