·

In a display of maritime solidarity, the Philippine Navy’s patrol vessel, BRP Nestor Reinoso (PC-380), came to the rescue of the South Korean passenger ship, Udosarang 1, which faced mechanical issues while sailing near Burgos town in Ilocos Norte on February 5, 2025. The incident, which occurred around 9 a.m., prompted a swift response from the Naval Forces Northern Luzon (NFNL), who deployed the BRP Nestor Reinoso to escort the troubled vessel to safety. The South Korean ship was safely guided to Sual, Pangasinan, where it could undergo necessary repairs. The Maritime Situation Awareness Center – North (MSAC-N) and Naval Monitoring Detachment Pasuquin (NMD Pasuquin) played crucial roles in monitoring the emergency and coordinating the rescue operation. All nine Filipino crew members aboard the Udosarang 1 were reported safe and unharmed throughout the ordeal.
