Philippine Army Revives Office of Chief Infantry to Boost Combat Readiness

·

The Philippine Army (PA) has reinstated the Office of the Chief Infantry, a move aimed at bolstering the combat effectiveness of its infantry units. The announcement came on Friday, following a ceremony held the previous day at the Army’s headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, led by PA chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido. The reactivation of this office, which was previously dissolved in 2004, is seen as a pivotal move to enhance the Army’s operational capabilities and readiness. Lt. Gen. Galido emphasized that the office will act as a central hub for planning force design, developing capabilities, and integrating military doctrines into operations, ensuring that infantry units are well-prepared for external security challenges. The office’s reactivation underscores the Army’s commitment to maintaining and advancing programs that improve its operational effectiveness. Col. Victorino Seño has been appointed to lead the newly reactivated office. This development follows the recent establishment of the Project Management and Modernization Center in December 2024, as part of the Army’s broader initiative to transform into a modern, versatile, and multi-mission ground force.
