In a significant development for La Union, a new PHP34.5-million bridge in Tubao town was inaugurated on February 5, 2025, by Governor Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David. The 30-meter long bridge, which spans 306 meters by 6.1 meters in pavement, is designed to improve connectivity and stimulate economic growth in the region.
The bridge, which began construction on April 25, 2023, was completed ahead of schedule on December 10, 2024. According to the La Union Provincial Information Office, the new structure offers a safer and more efficient route for both residents and businesses. It is particularly beneficial for farmers who can now transport their agricultural products more conveniently.
This bridge not only serves as a vital link between Barangays Pideg and Francia Sur in Tubao but also connects to Barangays Bacani, Marcos, Tanglag, and Parasapas in the neighboring municipality of Rosario, eventually leading to Marcos Highway. The bridge’s width was increased from 10 meters to 30 meters to better accommodate traffic and enhance flow.
Governor Ortega-David highlighted the transformation of the bridge, noting that it was previously a single-lane, low structure that posed risks during the rainy season. The new bridge is now higher, wider, and more robust, significantly improving safety and accessibility.
Looking forward, Governor Ortega-David expressed optimism about further infrastructure developments in La Union this year, emphasizing her commitment to projects that will drive economic growth and enhance the quality of life for the province’s residents.
