·

The Department of Agriculture (DA) has issued a stern warning to the public about fraudulent activities involving the impersonation of Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. The DA disclosed that individuals are exploiting the Secretary’s contact details and image to fabricate requests for financial assistance and engage in other illegal activities across various social media platforms and messaging applications. The department emphasized that Secretary Tiu Laurel has not authorized any such solicitations. Undersecretary and Chief-of-Staff Alvin John Balagbag reinforced this message in a memorandum to DA officials and employees, stating that all directives from the Secretary would be communicated officially via written documents bearing his signature and sent through the Office of the Secretary’s official email. The DA encouraged the public to disregard any suspicious requests and report them directly to the Office of the Secretary, which can be reached at (02) 8273-2474 local 2282.
