Clark International Airport (CRK) has achieved a significant milestone by receiving the Permanent Aerodrome Certificate, solidifying its status as a crucial gateway for both international and domestic flights in the Philippines. The certificate was proudly displayed by key figures including Noel Manankil, CEO and President of Luzon International Premiere Airport Development (LIPAD), Capt. Manuel Antonio Lara Tamayo, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), and Joshua Bingcang, CEO of Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), during a ceremony on February 7, 2025.
Manankil emphasized the importance of this achievement, stating that it reflects the hard work and dedication of the CRK team in ensuring safety, efficiency, and excellence in airport services. The certification, awarded by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and CAAP, confirms that CRK adheres to stringent safety standards and is operationally ready to serve as a world-class aviation facility.
The process to obtain the permanent certification involved rigorous assessments across all areas of the airport’s operations, from facilities and services to equipment, all of which were found to meet the standards set by the CAAP Manual of Standards. This recognition not only validates the airport’s capabilities but also highlights the expertise of its operators.
As CRK looks to the future, Manankil expressed optimism about the airport’s growth and its role in connecting the world. The certification comes at a pivotal time as the airport prepares for an increase in aircraft and passenger traffic, facilitated by the gradual transfer of turboprop operations from Manila to other airports, including CRK. Starting March 30, Cebgo will operate flights to Siargao and Masbate via CRK, and Cebu Pacific will launch daily services to El Nido and Coron (Busuanga), further expanding its operations at the Clark hub.
This development marks a new chapter for CRK, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of excellence and innovation in the aviation industry.
