In a significant development at Camp John Hay, Baguio City, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has entered into new lease agreements with multiple sub-lessees of CJH Development Corporation (CJHDevCo). These agreements cover properties in Forest Estates, Country Homes, Golf Estates, and Forest Cabins, marking a pivotal step towards harmonizing interests among all involved parties.
The move comes in the wake of a Supreme Court decision that granted BCDA the right to reclaim the Camp John Hay property. As a result, over 40 new residential lease agreements have been signed with CJHDevCo’s sub-lessees. BCDA is also engaging with other stakeholders to draft new term sheets for additional residential leases within the area.
Joshua Bingcang, President and CEO of BCDA, emphasized the organization’s commitment to easing the transition of management at Camp John Hay. He stated that BCDA aims to foster a future that benefits all stakeholders. Bingcang highlighted ongoing collaborations with private partners and the Baguio City Government to enhance facilities and services, safeguard the local environment, generate job opportunities, and strengthen the community.
Furthermore, BCDA is set to reassess the over 25-year-old comprehensive master plan for Camp John Hay, aligning it with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. The authority aspires to emulate the success of Bonifacio Global City in Taguig and New Clark City in Tarlac through strategic infrastructure projects and significant investments.
