In a significant development for the town of Porac in Pampanga, a new municipal hall, drawing inspiration from the renowned US Library of Congress in Washington, DC, was officially opened on February 5, 2025. The impressive PHP370-million structure, which began construction in 2021, marks a new chapter for the municipality.
The building stands on a three-hectare plot in Barangay Cangatba, generously donated by the family of the late Genaro Dimalanta, who was the vice mayor of Porac from 1960 to 1963. The inauguration ceremony was led by Senator Lito Lapid, a proud native of Porac, who played a crucial role in securing the funding for this project.
Porac Mayor Myla Clarete expressed deep gratitude towards Senator Lapid, acknowledging his dedication and efforts in ensuring the financial support for the new municipal hall. The construction was funded by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and the move of the municipal seat from Barangay Poblacion to its current location on Circumferential Road in Barangay Cangatba was authorized by Municipal Ordinance No. 01, Series of 2025.
Alongside the municipal hall, the new Porac Police Station was also inaugurated, enhancing the facilities available to the community. The local government has plans to develop additional government offices on the expansive three-hectare property in the near future, promising further growth and development for Porac.
