Drainage System Overhaul on Bonifacio Drive in Manila to Commence February 7

·

MANILA – A significant six-month project to rehabilitate and enhance the drainage infrastructure along Bonifacio Drive-Northbound in Manila is scheduled to kick off on February 7. The Department of Public Works and Highways – South Manila District Engineering Office (DPWH-SMDEO) announced via a social media update that the initiative to repair damaged road sections and improve the drainage system will begin at 11 p.m. on the specified date.

The project will initially involve closing the lane closest to the sidewalk on Bonifacio Drive-Northbound, affecting a 147-meter stretch up to the intersection with P. Burgos Street, but stopping short of 25th Street. The DPWH plans to tackle the remaining fourth lane only after the first lane’s completion, a strategy designed to minimize traffic disruptions.

Alongside road repairs, the drainage system upgrade will proceed on the impacted lanes. This dual approach aims not only to maintain road usability for drivers but also to mitigate flooding risks in the vicinity.

Motorists should brace for potential traffic jams during the construction phase and consider utilizing alternative routes to navigate around the affected areas.

Originally slated to start on Wednesday, the project’s commencement was delayed until Friday.
