Bicol Police Launch Youth-Driven Crime Prevention Initiative

·

In a significant move to bolster community safety, the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) has initiated the Kabataan Kontra Kriminalidad (KKK) program, aimed at engaging young people in crime prevention efforts. Launched in Sorsogon on February 1, 2025, the program seeks to empower youth from various backgrounds, including out-of-school youth, Muslim youth, and indigenous peoples, to become advocates for peace and safety in their communities.

PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon emphasized the importance of youth involvement in fostering a sense of responsibility and partnership between law enforcement and the younger generation. The KKK initiative encourages young participants to engage in community safety initiatives, develop leadership skills, and strengthen ties between the police and the community.

The program includes a series of seminars, trainings, and outreach activities designed to equip young individuals with the knowledge and resources needed to contribute effectively to crime prevention. Following the launch in Sorsogon, the initiative will expand to other provinces in the region, with events scheduled in Camarines Norte, Masbate, Catanduanes, Albay, and Camarines Sur throughout February.

Dizon highlighted that by addressing the root causes of crime and empowering youth, the KKK program aims to create agents of positive change within their communities. He reaffirmed PRO-5’s commitment to nurturing the youth as ‘Guardians of Peace,’ instilling a strong sense of community ownership and responsibility. This initiative is seen as a crucial step towards a future where young people play a pivotal role in creating a safer and more peaceful society.
