In a vibrant celebration of literacy, students from three public schools in Albay gathered at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall to participate in World Read Aloud Day. Organized by the Albay Provincial Library and Information Center (APLIC), the event saw enthusiastic participation from students, parents, and teachers of Albay Central School, Bagumbayan Central School, and EM’s Barrio Elementary School on February 5, 2025.

Acting Vice Governor Rey Bragais highlighted the significance of reading during the event, noting its power to expand knowledge and ignite imagination. He encouraged students to embrace reading as a tool for achieving their future aspirations, stating, “Reading can transport you to different worlds. I urge all students to study diligently, as it will pave the way to your dreams.”

Bragais also pointed out that such activities are crucial for building students’ confidence and improving their oral communication skills. The event featured a collaborative reading session with a guest storyteller, aimed at fostering a love for reading among the young attendees and underscoring its importance in lifelong learning.

Amelyn Bautista, the provincial librarian of Albay, remarked on the unifying power of stories, saying, “Today’s event demonstrated how stories can bring people together, spark our imagination, and enrich our daily lives.” Both Bragais and Bautista expressed optimism that the celebration would further ignite the students’ passion for reading.
