In a robust display of law enforcement, the Police Regional Office in Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) announced the seizure of illegal drugs valued at PHP29.6 million and smuggled cigarettes worth PHP38.9 million during January. The operations, which took place across the region, also resulted in the apprehension of 509 individuals involved in drug trafficking, smuggling, and other criminal activities.
Brig. Gen. Jaysen de Guzman, the director of PRO-10, emphasized the significance of these operations, stating that they reflect the police force’s dedication to fighting crime and safeguarding the community. The crackdown included the seizure of 4,353.3 grams of shabu, a potent form of methamphetamine, and the arrest of 46 suspects in 14 operations targeting illegal gambling, with gambling paraphernalia worth PHP23,516 confiscated.
The regional police also made significant progress in capturing wanted individuals, arresting 178 people on their wanted list, 40 of whom were classified as most wanted. Additionally, under Operation ‘Kontra Boga,’ PRO-10 conducted 35 operations against loose firearms, leading to the arrest of 14 suspects and the seizure of 34 assorted guns.
In their efforts to combat cigarette smuggling, PRO-10 executed 26 operations, resulting in the arrest of 30 suspects and the confiscation of smuggled cigarettes valued at PHP38.9 million. These achievements were highlighted during a flag-raising ceremony at the PRO-10 headquarters in Cagayan de Oro City, underscoring the police’s ongoing commitment to maintaining peace and security in Northern Mindanao.
