The Japanese Embassy in Manila is striving to expedite the visa processing time to just five days, despite a significant increase in Filipino tourists wanting to travel to Japan. The embassy has encouraged travelers to apply for their visas two months ahead of their planned departure. Amidst a record-breaking number of tourism visa applications, the embassy is in the midst of updating its screening system, which is expected to enhance the efficiency of the visa application process. The embassy emphasized Japan’s commitment to fostering strong bilateral relations with the Philippines, highlighting the significance of cultural and personal exchanges between the two nations. For other visa categories such as business, conferences, cultural exchanges, and long-term stays, the traditional application processes will remain unchanged. Rajah Travel Corporation reported on January 22 that all daily slots for Japan tourist visas were completely booked. In response, the embassy opened a limited number of additional slots for tourist visa applications this February. The embassy is committed to processing and returning visas within five working days from the date of submission by travel agencies.
