In a significant drug bust in Dumaguete City, a 21-year-old woman was apprehended on February 2, 2025, with approximately PHP3.4 million worth of suspected shabu. The arrest took place during a meticulously planned buy-bust operation in Purok Bliss, Barangay Talay. The suspect, originally from Bacong, was under intense police surveillance and considered a high-value target on the police’s list of drug personalities. Lt. Stephen Polinar of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office revealed that the woman sold the drugs to an undercover agent, leading to her arrest. Authorities seized around 500 grams of shabu from her. The operation involved multiple units including the local police, the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and police intelligence units. The suspect is currently detained, facing charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, Republic Act 9165, as investigations continue into her past involvement in the drug trade.
