Rainy Weather Forecast for Philippines Due to Easterlies and Northeast Monsoon

·

MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecasted that the easterlies and the northeast monsoon, known locally as ‘amihan’, will continue to bring rain to various parts of the Philippines. According to PAGASA’s Rhea Torres, the northeast monsoon is expected to cause light rain in certain areas of Luzon, while the easterlies will contribute to warmer conditions across much of the country. In Mindanao, the easterlies are set to cause scattered rains and thunderstorms. There is also a risk of flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall. Specifically, light rains are anticipated in Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, and isolated parts of the Ilocos Region due to the northeast monsoon. The rest of the country can expect isolated rain showers or thunderstorms influenced by the easterlies. Currently, no low pressure areas are being monitored within or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. Metro Manila is expected to see temperatures up to 33°C, while Laoag, Tuguegarao, and Legazpi may reach up to 31°C. In Iloilo, Kalayaan Islands, Puerto Princesa, Tacloban, and Davao, temperatures could climb to 32°C, and Zamboanga might experience up to 33°C. Additionally, moderate to strong winds and rough coastal waters are forecasted for Northern Luzon and the eastern part of Mindanao, with lighter conditions elsewhere.
