New Road Networks in Alamada, North Cotabato Set to Enhance Local Economy

·

In a significant development for Alamada, North Cotabato, two newly completed road projects valued at PHP97.3 million are poised to revolutionize the local economy and improve the quality of life for residents, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways in Soccsksargen (DPWH-12). The announcement was made on Monday, marking a milestone in regional infrastructure development.

The projects, a joint effort with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), consist of the Junction Dulao-Ricor-New Leon-Patag-Dado Road and the Pati-Baugan-Badak-Junction Camp 10 Road located in Barangay Rangayen. These roads are expected to significantly enhance connectivity to previously hard-to-reach rural areas.

Engineer Basir Ibrahim, Director of DPWH-12, emphasized that the new concrete roads will facilitate easier transportation of key agricultural products such as bananas, coffee, and highland vegetables to markets. This improvement in logistics is anticipated to boost the agricultural sector’s efficiency and profitability.

Ibrahim highlighted that the roads will not only aid in economic growth but also contribute to social development by reducing school absenteeism through safer and quicker travel routes for students. Additionally, these roads will enhance access to healthcare services in nearby urban areas.

Local farmer Celestino Abugay expressed his appreciation for the new infrastructure, noting that it will enable him to deliver perishable goods to markets more promptly and at reduced costs. This sentiment was echoed by many in the community, who are grateful for the government’s initiative.

The road projects will serve Alamada’s 68,600 residents across 17 barangays, improving their access to essential government services and significantly increasing agricultural productivity. The region of Soccsksargen, which includes North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and the cities of Kidapawan, Tacurong, Koronadal, and General Santos, stands to benefit from this infrastructural advancement.
