DHSUD Commits to Upholding Progress of 4PH Housing Initiative

MANILA – The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has pledged to maintain the momentum of the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program across the nation. This commitment comes in the wake of a favorable public opinion towards President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., as reflected in a recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

The survey indicated that 59% of Filipinos are satisfied with the Marcos administration, with dissatisfaction dropping to 23%. President Marcos Jr. received a ‘very good’ rating of +65 for his efforts in aiding disaster victims and a ‘good’ rating of +49 for his work on housing programs for the underprivileged.

DHSUD has been at the forefront of the 4PH Program, with several local government partners beginning to distribute housing units to beneficiaries as early as December. Currently, 56 projects are at different stages of development and construction, including completed condominium-type buildings in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

In addition to housing, DHSUD has played a significant role in disaster response, initiating two programs for calamity victims last year and participating in the ‘conveyor belt of aid’ following a series of typhoons. The department has provided housing materials and essentials (HOMEs) to typhoon victims and offered unconditional cash assistance ranging from PHP10,000 to PHP30,000 through its Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP).

DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar expressed that the positive ratings serve as motivation to enhance their efforts, particularly for the less fortunate. He emphasized President Marcos Jr.’s directive to extend all possible assistance to Filipinos, with DHSUD focusing on providing decent, safe, and affordable housing.

Acuzar also acknowledged the +49 rating for the administration’s pro-poor housing initiatives, stating it confirms they are on the correct path with the 4PH Program. He stressed the importance of sustaining the program’s momentum to continue making progress.
