Bicol Police Crack Down on Drug Trade, Seize P1.88 Million in Illegal Substances

In a robust campaign against illegal drugs, the Bicol region’s Police Regional Office (PRO-5) has successfully seized drugs valued at PHP1.88 million and arrested 23 suspects over a week-long operation spanning from January 27 to February 2, 2025. According to PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon, the operations, which totaled 20, led to the confiscation of 276.89 grams of shabu and 3 grams of marijuana. The crackdown was most effective in Camarines Norte, where drugs worth PHP656,132 were seized, followed by Camarines Sur at PHP448,120, Naga City at PHP301,240, Masbate at PHP241,400, Albay at PHP160,160, and Sorsogon at PHP75,160. No significant drug seizures were reported in Catanduanes during this period. Dizon emphasized the ongoing commitment of PRO-5 to dismantle drug networks within the region, stating that these efforts are just the beginning of a more intensified campaign to eradicate the drug menace. He called on the community to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to illegal drugs, underscoring that community involvement is crucial for the success of their anti-drug initiatives.
