San Remigio to Use P1.15 Million Incentive for New PWD and Senior Citizens Center

·

In a move to enhance community services, San Remigio, Antique, is set to construct a new center dedicated to persons with disabilities (PWD) and senior citizens, utilizing a PHP1.153 million incentive received under the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG). Mayor Margarito Mission Jr. announced that the bidding process for the construction will commence next week, emphasizing the municipality’s commitment to its vulnerable populations.

Mayor Mission highlighted the importance of providing a permanent space for PWDs and senior citizens, who currently share a desk at the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office. The new center will not only offer a venue for meetings but will also facilitate official transactions such as registrations and ID requests. The facility will be equipped with air conditioning and designed to meet accessibility standards.

This initiative follows the successful use of the 2023 SGLG incentive, which funded the construction of the Sangguniang Kabataan session hall, expected to be completed by March 2025. San Remigio is among nine local government units in Antique recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government for their outstanding governance and service delivery.

In related news, the Antique provincial government has allocated PHP3 million from its SGLG incentive to purchase an ambulance for the Angel Salazar Memorial District Hospital, further demonstrating the region’s commitment to improving public welfare and sustainable development.
