First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos will represent the Philippines at the upcoming World Governments Summit in Dubai, scheduled from February 11 to 13, as announced by the Presidential Communications Office on January 31, 2025. Acting Secretary Cesar Chavez confirmed that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will not be attending the event in the United Arab Emirates.
In preparation for the summit, Araneta-Marcos shared images of a preliminary meeting at her office on her social media platforms. She expressed a mix of excitement and nervousness about her participation in the summit on her official Instagram account.
During the preparations, discussions revolved around several memorandums of agreement, including updates on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement aimed at enhancing mutual prosperity between the Philippines and the UAE.
The theme for this year’s World Governments Summit is ‘Shaping Future Governments.’ The event will gather governments, international organizations, thought leaders, and private sector leaders from around the world to enhance international cooperation and explore innovative solutions for future challenges. The summit aims to inspire and empower the next generation of governments.
The program will focus on creating a better future for humanity through six main thematic discussions: effective governance and accountability, financing the future and the global economy, climate crisis mitigation and resilient cities, human-centric futures and capacity building, global health transformations, and emerging frontiers and the future.
