Agusan del Sur and DENR Caraga Break Ground for Surveying Instrument Test Site

·

In a significant move to enhance land surveying accuracy, the provincial government of Agusan del Sur, in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in the Caraga Region (DENR-13), has initiated the construction of a testing site for surveying instruments. The groundbreaking ceremony took place at the D.O Plaza Government Center in Barangay Patin-ay, Prosperidad town, on January 30, 2025. This new facility is expected to serve as a standard regional baseline for the testing and registration of surveying tools, thereby improving the precision of land surveys across the region.

The project, which also involves the Land Management Bureau of the DENR and the Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines, was formalized through a memorandum of agreement signed on the same day. According to the provincial government, the establishment of this testing center is a strategic step towards enhancing the calibration and registration processes of surveying instruments, which will lead to more efficient and accurate land surveying practices in the Caraga Region.

The new site is also anticipated to elevate the standards of geodetic engineering in the area, contributing to the overall development of regional infrastructure. By providing a reliable and standardized system for testing and registering surveying instruments, the facility will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of land surveys.

The DENR-13 has confirmed that the establishment of the testing site aligns with the guidelines outlined in Lands Management Circular No. 2022-004 and Department Order No. 2007-29. These guidelines are designed to create a structured framework that ensures precision and accountability in geodetic practices, further solidifying the importance of the new testing site in Agusan del Sur.
