In a show of solidarity, leaders from the Visayas region have publicly reaffirmed their support for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The declaration came during a unity lunch hosted by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, who also leads the ‘One Visayas Bloc’. At this gathering, all 16 governors from the Visayas, including those from Cebu, signed a manifesto pledging their allegiance to Marcos and his vision for the nation’s advancement.
The manifesto was signed by a range of governors including Jose Enrique Miraflores of Aklan, JC Rahman Nava of Guimaras, Erico Aristotle Aumentado of Bohol, Rhodora Cadiao of Antique, Arthur Defensor Jr. of Iloilo, and Fredenil Castro of Capiz, among others. The document emphasized their collective stance as representatives of the Visayas, voicing their solid support for Marcos’s administration.
The event was not limited to governors; it also saw the participation of mayors, vice mayors, councilors, provincial board members, and representatives from the Provincial Association of Barangay Councils in Cebu. This broad representation underscores the widespread backing for Marcos’s leadership across different levels of local government.
Separate endorsements from various groups within the Visayas region further highlighted Marcos’s achievements in nation-building. The League of Municipalities in Cebu commended Marcos for his efforts in positioning the Philippines as a significant economic player in Asia, noting that his focus on safety and security has successfully drawn foreign investments, benefiting the nation economically.
The Philippine Councilors League (PCL)-Cebu Chapter also praised the Marcos administration for its contributions to the general welfare and nation-building. They highlighted the progressive and responsive nature of Marcos’s leadership, which has been instrumental in addressing the needs of Filipinos.
Additionally, the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation expressed their support for Marcos’s ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ governance vision, emphasizing their commitment to better governance based on principles of justice, equality, accountability, unity, and integrity.
This recent show of support follows a similar event in August 2024, where First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos accepted Manifestos of Support from Cebu leaders on behalf of the President.
