Three Weather Systems to Bring Rain Across the Philippines on Thursday

·

On Thursday, the Philippines will see widespread rain due to the influence of three distinct weather systems, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). The shear line is expected to bring scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms to regions including Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Laguna, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Aklan, and Capiz. Particularly heavy downpours are anticipated in Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and Albay. Moderate to heavy rainfall is also forecast for Laguna, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Sorsogon, Masbate, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar, which could lead to flash floods and landslides. The easterlies will cause scattered rains and thunderstorms in Caraga, Davao de Oro, and Davao Oriental. Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, known locally as ‘amihan’, will bring rain to Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora. Light rains from ‘amihan’ are expected in other parts of Luzon. The rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. Strong to gale-force winds and rough to very rough seas are predicted for Northern Luzon, the eastern parts of Central and Southern Luzon, and Visayas. Moderate to strong winds and rough seas are expected in the eastern section of Mindanao and the rest of Luzon, while other areas will see light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
