The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a summons to a motorcycle rider who survived a deadly crash on the Marilaque Highway. The incident, which occurred on January 26, 2025, in Barangay Cuyambay, Tanay, Rizal, involved two riders performing a ‘Superman’ stunt, resulting in one rider’s death and injuries to six others. LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II announced that a show cause order was delivered to the surviving rider’s home in Lipa City, Batangas. Mendoza, who viewed the video of the crash, emphasized the tragedy could have been avoided with responsible riding. The survivor, identified as a motovlogger, is required to provide a written explanation before attending a hearing to determine if his license should be suspended or revoked for reckless driving. The order, signed by LTO Calabarzon Regional Director Elmer Decena, cites the rider’s unsafe maneuvers as the reason for the summons.
