An explosion in Tanza, Cavite, led to the uncovering of a clandestine shabu laboratory operating out of a residential area, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). The blast occurred early Tuesday morning on Leon Fojas Street in Barangay Sahud-Ulan, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. Upon investigation, officers discovered a variety of drug paraphernalia, equipment, and chemicals indicative of a kitchen-type shabu lab. Further searches revealed an assortment of illegal drugs. The PDEA, along with local police, are currently pursuing four suspects believed to be behind the operation: a Filipino woman, a person of Chinese descent, and two Indonesians. Evidence collected from the scene is being analyzed at the PDEA and Philippine National Police Laboratories. The suspects face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. In a related incident, a 24-year-old drug courier was apprehended in Caloocan City. The suspect, known as Jonathan, was caught with PHP1.57 million worth of illegal drugs at a police checkpoint. Attempting to evade capture, he was eventually stopped and found carrying 12 kg of marijuana, 60 ecstasy tablets, 2 grams of cocaine, and liquid marijuana. He is now in custody and facing charges for drug-related offenses and disobedience to authority.
