The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is gearing up to launch the Kaagapay online portal, a new digital platform designed to simplify the process of donating to local social welfare programs. Assistant Secretary Ana Maria Paz Rafael announced the upcoming launch during a media forum on January 30, 2025, emphasizing the portal’s role in facilitating donations during disasters and to care facilities managed by the DSWD.
Rafael explained that the Kaagapay portal will enable donors to contribute both financially and in-kind. For disaster response, the portal will exclusively accept cash donations via digital transactions to ensure the quality of aid distributed. In contrast, in-kind donations can be directly sent to the DSWD’s Center and Residential Care Facilities (CRCFs) of the donor’s choice.
The portal also integrates with logistics partners to facilitate the delivery of donations, with the cost borne by the donors. Furthermore, it connects donors with registered social welfare and development agencies (SWDAs) and local government units involved in humanitarian efforts during emergencies.
Rafael highlighted the portal’s inclusivity, stating that even small contributions can make a significant impact, encouraging everyone to show their support and empathy through the Kaagapay portal.
