President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced his intention to organize monthly job fairs throughout the Philippines during his speech at the Jobstreet Career Con 2025 in Pasay City. The initiative aims to reduce the unemployment rate further by providing more frequent opportunities for job seekers to connect with employers. Marcos described the event as a pilot, suggesting that if successful, similar events would be held monthly across various provinces, not just in Metro Manila. This move is intended to make job opportunities more accessible to those outside the capital region. The Career Con 2025, a collaboration between Jobstreet and the Department of Labor and Employment, featured over 150 employers and around 8,000 job vacancies, attracting 18,000 registered job seekers. Marcos also highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing workers’ skills through programs led by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. Recent statistics show a decline in the unemployment rate to 3.2 percent in November from 3.6 percent the previous year, with the employment rate increasing to 96.8 percent.
