In a significant move to strengthen military ties, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the US Pacific Air Force (PACAF) have agreed to deepen their interoperability. This decision was solidified during a meeting at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City, where PAF chief Lt. Gen. Arthur Cordura welcomed PACAF commander Gen. Kevin Schneider. The leaders discussed various strategies to enhance their joint operational capabilities and promote excellence in combined military efforts.
The discussions highlighted the importance of joint exercises and training programs, which are seen as crucial for improving the operational effectiveness of both forces. Key areas such as information sharing, airman-to-airman dialogues, and regular maritime cooperative activities were also on the agenda. The meeting underscored the ongoing projects under the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA), aimed at facilitating cooperation in humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and bolstering regional security.
As part of the visit, Gen. Schneider and his delegation planned to tour several PAF Air Bases and EDCA project sites across Pampanga, Palawan, Cebu, and Lumbia Airport in Cagayan de Oro. This visit not only reinforces the commitment of both air forces to enhance interoperability but also aims to strengthen bilateral relations, boost defense capabilities, and support peace and security in the Indo-Pacific Region.
