MANILA – The New Zealand government has announced that it will begin accepting applications for the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships on February 1, as stated by the New Zealand Embassy in Manila. This scholarship program is designed for individuals from the Asia Pacific region, including Filipinos, who wish to undertake postgraduate studies in New Zealand starting in early 2026. Successful applicants will receive full support, covering tuition fees, living costs, an establishment allowance, medical and travel insurance, as well as air travel to and from the Philippines. The scholarships are funded by the New Zealand International Development Cooperation Programme, aiming to nurture young leaders who can effect change in critical areas such as climate change, renewable energy, disaster risk management, and governance. In the 2024 cycle, 16 Filipinos were awarded scholarships and are set to commence their studies in New Zealand in 2025. New Zealand Ambassador to the Philippines, Catherine McIntosh, emphasized that the scholarships are intended to empower individuals to become leaders and contribute significantly to their communities and countries. The application window for the scholarships will be open from midnight on February 1, 2025, until midday on February 28, 2025, New Zealand Time. The program welcomes applicants from the public, private, and civil society sectors.
