Clash in Butuan City Results in Death of Two NPA Rebels

·

In a recent confrontation on the outskirts of Butuan City, two members of the New People’s Army (NPA) lost their lives during a skirmish with government forces. The incident took place early Tuesday in Sitio Dinakpan, Barangay Los Angeles, involving soldiers from the 29th Infantry Battalion and NPA fighters from the Sub-Regional Sentro de Grabidad Westland (SRSDG-WL). The brief but intense 10-minute firefight led to the seizure of significant military hardware, including an AK-47 rifle, a Bushmaster rifle, along with ammunition and medical supplies. Brig. Gen. Arsenio Sadural, who leads the Army’s 901st Infantry Brigade, reported that the SRSDG-WL was tasked with protecting the Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee’s headquarters. Efforts are underway to identify the deceased rebels. Sadural noted a growing fatigue among local residents towards the NPA’s activities, urging the public to come forward with any information regarding the group’s movements.
