The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has sprung into action following the discovery of a 1,000-liter oil spill in the San Isidro River, located in San Pedro City, Laguna. The spill, which covers an area of approximately 100 square meters, was first reported on a Sunday morning, leading to immediate response efforts by the PCG.
In collaboration with the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) of San Pedro, the PCG initiated a joint recovery operation. They deployed 50 meters of oil spill booms to contain the spread of the oil, which was traced back to the Kengian Complex Warehouse Building 20 Phase 1 within the city.
As of the latest update, the source and cause of the oil spill remain under investigation by the PCG, with no definitive answers yet provided to the public.
