CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Philippine Army has appointed Brig. Gen. Michele Anayron Jr. as the new head of the 4th Infantry Division (4ID), responsible for regions in Northern Mindanao and Caraga. The official ceremony took place on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, marking a new chapter for the division.
In his first address as commander, Anayron outlined his vision for the division, emphasizing peace and development initiatives. He stressed the importance of working closely with national agencies, local governments, NGOs, and the private sector to implement impactful programs within designated peace and development zones.
Anayron’s strategy includes tackling the underlying issues fueling insurgency, a key focus of his tenure. He took over from Brig. Gen. Consolito Yecla, who had been acting commander since the retirement of Maj. Gen. Jose Ma. Cuerpo II earlier in the month.
Prior to this role, Anayron led the 403rd Infantry Brigade in Bukidnon, where he was instrumental in operations against New People’s Army (NPA) guerrilla fronts. His military journey started in 1992 as a civil-military operations officer in the Visayas, and he has since held significant positions in Mindanao, including roles with the Eastern Mindanao Command and the Mechanized Infantry Division.
A graduate of the Philippine Military Academy’s ‘Tanglaw-Diwa’ Class of 1992, Anayron has excelled in various military training programs, including the Scout Ranger and Armor Officer Basic courses. His international experience includes Special Operations Team training in Queensland, Australia, and the Grade 2 Staff Officer Course.
Beyond his military achievements, Anayron holds advanced degrees in Business Administration from Xavier University, Public Management from the Development Academy of the Philippines, and National Security Administration from the National Defense College of the Philippines.
Anayron is committed to leading the 4ID in fostering peaceful and resilient communities across its jurisdiction.
