MANILA – The Philippines is set to experience widespread rain on Tuesday, influenced by three distinct weather systems. The shear line is expected to bring scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms to the Visayas, Palawan, and Dinagat Islands. Similarly, the rest of Mindanao will see scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies. In the northern part of the country, the northeast monsoon, known locally as ‘amihan’, will cause rain in the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, and Isabela. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned that these regions could face moderate to heavy rainfall, potentially leading to flash floods and landslides. In contrast, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will only see isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon. PAGASA reported no low pressure areas that could develop into tropical cyclones. Additionally, strong to gale-force winds and rough to very rough seas are forecasted for Northern Luzon, posing risks for small sea vessels. Mariners are advised to stay in port or find safe harbor. Central Luzon is expected to have moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough coastal waters, while other areas will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
