In his statement released on Monday, Marcos expressed his deep sadness upon learning of Romero’s death. He reminisced about his first encounter with Romero on the set of the 1965 biographical film ‘Iginuhit ng Tadhana,’ where she played the role of former First Lady Imelda Marcos, and Marcos himself, at the age of eight, portrayed his own character. Marcos praised Romero not only for her exceptional acting skills but also for her admirable character, describing her as a lady of great dignity and a true star. He emphasized her enduring influence on the entertainment world, noting that her contributions as both an artist and a person would be eternally remembered. Gloria Romero, often hailed as the ‘Queen of Philippine Cinema,’ was honored with multiple awards, including Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress from prestigious bodies like FAMAS, the Film Academy of the Philippines, and Gawad Urian Awards. Romero passed away on Saturday at the age of 91.
