In a significant drug bust in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Caraga (PDEA-13) apprehended two individuals and confiscated 16 kilograms of shabu valued at over PHP108 million. The operation took place on Monday morning, January 27, 2025. The suspects, identified as Octomar Demetrio, 32, from Barangay Baan 3, Bayugan City, and Janray Cala, 22, from Barangay Poblacion 2, Tubay, Agusan del Sur, were caught during the sting operation. PDEA-13 described this seizure as one of the largest in the history of the Caraga region. Director Levi Ortiz of PDEA-13 highlighted the success of the operation as a testament to the collaborative efforts in combating illegal drugs, stating, ‘Our combined efforts reflect our commitment to protecting the community.’ The suspects are currently detained by PDEA-13 and are set to be charged under Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
