Former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog expressed his deep gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for granting him executive clemency related to his 2017 administrative case. Mabilog, who welcomed supporters at his home in Barangay Tap-oc, Molo, on January 27, 2025, credited his past achievements as the city’s mayor for the decision. He received the seven-page clemency document on January 24, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on behalf of the President on January 15, 2025. Mabilog had petitioned to overturn the Sandiganbayan’s October 23, 2017, ruling that found him guilty of grave misconduct, serious dishonesty, and conduct detrimental to public service, stemming from the enforcement of Iloilo City’s clamping and towing ordinance. He highlighted that President Marcos acknowledged his contributions to good governance, his efforts against illegal drugs, and the accolades Iloilo City earned during his tenure. Mabilog also thanked Iloilo City Lone District Representative Julienne Baronda and her family for their support. He plans to retreat to private life for the next three years and spend time with his family in the United States. A thanksgiving mass was held at his residence, attended by his supporters.
