Dinagat Islands Enhances Tourism Appeal with New Accreditations

In a move to elevate its tourism sector, the Dinagat Islands provincial government has recently accredited a range of services, including 10 accommodation establishments, six community tour guides, and three water transport vehicles. This initiative, announced by Governor Nilo Demerey Jr., aims to uphold high standards of quality and reliability in the province’s tourism offerings. The accreditations were issued by the Department of Tourism in Caraga (DOT-13), which has been instrumental in supporting this effort to foster a sustainable and thriving tourism industry in Dinagat Islands. Governor Demerey emphasized that these accreditations will ensure that visitors receive exceptional services and memorable experiences, thereby boosting trust and ensuring the safety and well-being of tourists. Provincial Tourism Officer Benlen Navas highlighted the significant growth in tourist numbers in 2024, with a total of 111,971 visitors, marking a 254.92 percent increase from the previous year’s 31,548. This surge included a 251.65 percent rise in domestic tourists, reaching 108,517, and a 401.31 percent increase in foreign visitors, totaling 3,454. The peak months for domestic arrivals were December, November, and October, while foreign arrivals were highest in November, followed by December and October.
