In Talaingod, Davao del Norte, the Dagohoy Multipurpose Cooperative (DMPC) is set to enhance its operations with a new PHP5 million bio-secured swine facility, courtesy of the Department of Agriculture-Davao Region’s (DA-11) INSPIRE project. DA-11 Director Macario Gonzaga announced that the facility will come equipped with 100 swine for grow-out, along with necessary feeds and biologics. The project extends beyond just the facility, encompassing modern amenities, biosecurity protocols, and support for initial stock, equipment, and facility maintenance. According to Gonzaga, this setup is designed to serve as a reliable source of quality hogs for the local market, facilitating a strategic increase in farm production and clustering. The initiative not only aims to bolster food security but also to provide additional income streams for farmer cooperatives. Gonzaga emphasized that DA’s commitment to supporting agricultural communities will continue, with more farmers’ organizations and cooperatives expected to receive similar assistance.
