The Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo City is gearing up for an international showcase following the conclusion of its 2025 celebrations. The festival, known for its vibrant Tribes Competition, has received invitations to perform in Auckland, New Zealand, and at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. Allan Ryan Tan, president of the Iloilo Festival Foundation Inc., shared the exciting news during the competition, emphasizing the festival’s readiness to display the strength and resilience of the Dinagyang warriors to a global audience.
Eight tribes competed in the event, including Tribu Paghidaet, Tribu Salognon, Tribu Pan-ay, Tribu Molave, Tribu Parianon, Tribu Ilonganon, Tribu Hangaway, and Tribu PagAsa Kang Manduryaw, each representing different schools and districts within Iloilo. The festival, which celebrates the Child Jesus every fourth Sunday of January, not only showcases the talents and traditions of its participants but also highlights the collaborative efforts between the Iloilo City government and the province.
Mayor Jerry Treñas expressed his enthusiasm for the festival’s international prospects, urging the community to keep the Dinagyang spirit alive and help Iloilo City shine on the world stage. The festival’s success is seen as a testament to the strong partnership between the city and the province, driving forward a shared vision for a more vibrant and united Iloilo.
