President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has made a strategic appointment by naming lawyer Allan Vincent Lorenzo as the Deputy Director General of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA). Lorenzo, who played a significant role in Marcos’s legal team during the 2022 presidential elections, brings a wealth of experience to the PIA, which operates under the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) and serves as the government’s public relations arm for targeted communication efforts. Lorenzo is a senior partner at the Espino Valencia Pe Lim Nery Law Office, with his legal practice spanning areas such as land and marine transportation, telecommunications, local government, labor, and corporate law. Alongside Lorenzo’s appointment, Marcos has also reappointed ambassadors Marie Charlotte Tang and Maria Elena Algabre to their respective diplomatic posts. Tang continues her role as ambassador to Kenya, with additional responsibilities in Ethiopia and several other African nations, while Algabre has been assigned to Hungary with concurrent jurisdiction over several Eastern European countries. Further appointments include a range of positions within the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Philippine Space Agency, and other governmental bodies, reflecting a broad reshuffling of key personnel across various sectors.
