The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) announced the successful completion of a resupply and troop rotation mission at the BRP Sierra Madre stationed at Ayungin Shoal in the West Philippine Sea on January 24, 2025. The operation, which involved the vessel M/V Lapu-Lapu, was executed with the assistance of the Philippine Coast Guard. Colonel Xerxes Trinidad, head of the AFP’s public affairs office, emphasized the commitment to supporting the personnel at the outpost, ensuring they are well-equipped and ready to defend national interests in the region. The last such mission to the nine Philippine-held features in the West Philippine Sea occurred between December 3 and 14, 2024, and was completed without any incidents.
