The provincial government of Guimaras has initiated the construction of a PHP167 million, four-story outpatient care center at the Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital (DCGNPH). The project was officially launched with a groundbreaking ceremony on January 23, 2025, aimed at bolstering medical services and enhancing patient care efficiency across the province. The new center, located in Barangay San Miguel, Jordan town, will feature a range of services including a primary care facility with pharmacy, radiology, and minor surgery capabilities, a dialysis station, an ambulatory surgical clinic, and facilities for physical therapy and rehabilitation. Governor JC Rahman A. Nava emphasized the importance of not only the infrastructure and equipment but also the quality of personnel in delivering top-notch healthcare. The project is supported by PHP90 million from the Department of Health’s Health Facilities Enhancement Program, PHP20 million from Senator Pia Cayetano, and PHP57 million from the provincial government, with an expected completion in the first half of 2026. Nava also highlighted that this development is part of preparing for the full rollout of universal health care (UHC), which includes enhancements at the Buenavista Emergency Hospital and Nueva Valencia District Hospital. The governor expressed a vision of strengthening outpatient services throughout the province to support the UHC initiative.
