Free Medical Services for Siargao’s Educators This Weekend

·

In a commendable move, the provincial government of Surigao del Norte is set to offer free medical services to approximately 1,600 public school teachers on Siargao Island this weekend. Governor Robert Lyndon Barbers announced the initiative, named ‘Abante Maestra: A Teachers’ Wellness Initiative,’ which aims to support the health and well-being of the island’s educators. The program will also extend its benefits to around 400 non-teaching staff from the Department of Education in Siargao. The medical services, scheduled for January 25 and 26 at the Siargao Convention Center, will encompass medical consultations, laboratory tests, and the provision of free medicine. This initiative follows last year’s successful event, where over 1,000 teachers and non-teaching personnel benefited from similar free medical services.
