In a move to streamline business operations, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Negros Oriental is promoting the use of online platforms for business permit transactions. Nimfa Virtucio, the provincial director of DTI-Negros Oriental, emphasized the benefits of online transactions during a statement to the Philippine News Agency on January 24, 2025. She highlighted that online services significantly reduce waiting times, eliminating the need for business owners to queue at the business one-stop shop (BOSS) or the DTI office.
Virtucio pointed out that the online system is particularly advantageous for those seeking to apply for new business permits or renew existing ones, provided they have access to digital payment methods such as GCash or PayMaya. She also noted that the real-time processing of online transactions allows for immediate printing of business name registration certificates.
To facilitate this shift to digital services, DTI-Negros Oriental has established a dedicated desk at the BOSS in Dumaguete City, working alongside other government agencies to expedite the processing of business permits at the beginning of the year.
