Bureau of Customs Annihilates P34 Million Worth of Illegal Vapes in Cavite

·

In a decisive move to safeguard public health, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) obliterated nearly 160,000 vape products, totaling over PHP34 million in value, at a private facility in Cavite. The destruction took place on January 17 and 20, following the issuance of seizure and detention warrants for breaching the Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products Regulation Act (Republic Act No. 11900). Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio emphasized the action as a testament to the BOC’s dedication to upholding public health and legal compliance. The operation was executed in collaboration with the Auction and Cargo Disposal Division, Enforcement and Security Service, and Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service. Rubio reaffirmed the BOC’s commitment to protecting Filipinos from dangerous and illegal products, aligning with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to prioritize public health and national security.
