Sibalom Water District Begins Construction of Sixth Pumping Station to Cater to 2,000 More Households

·

In a significant development for water supply in Antique, the Sibalom Water District (SWD) has initiated the construction of its sixth pumping station in District 4 of Sibalom town. The project, which broke ground on January 22, 2025, is set to enhance water availability for an additional 2,000 households. SWD’s general manager, Jonathan De Gracia, highlighted the necessity of this new facility due to the rapid economic and population growth in the area, which has stretched the capabilities of the existing five pumping stations.

The new station, costing PHP5.4 million, is expected to produce 1,500 cubic meters of water daily. It aims to primarily benefit residents in the barangays of Ilabas, Catungan I, and Solong. Currently, SWD provides water to approximately 5,000 households across 17 barangays through its existing infrastructure in District 1 and the barangays of Nagdayao, Durog, Solong, and Panlagangan.

The construction of the new pumping station is slated for completion between April and May 2025, promising a significant boost to the water supply infrastructure in Sibalom.
