The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) announced on Wednesday that the government has disbursed more than PHP197.5 million in aid to families impacted by the ongoing activity of Mount Kanlaon on Negros Island. The aid distribution breaks down to PHP126.8 million for Central Visayas and PHP70.7 million for Western Visayas, as detailed in the latest NDRRMC situation report. The relief efforts have included the provision of family food packs, hygiene kits, sleeping kits, financial assistance, modular tents, filtration kits, and generator sets. A total of 10,054 families have received help, with 7,552 families in Western Visayas and 2,502 in Central Visayas benefiting. Currently, the unrest of the volcano has affected 12,286 families across 27 barangays in the two regions. Out of these, 3,118 families are receiving support within 23 evacuation centers, while 2,652 families are being assisted outside these facilities.
