Antique’s New Three-Story Capitol Building Progresses Rapidly

·

The construction of the new three-story capitol building in Antique, valued at PHP960 million, is advancing quickly in Barangay Badiang, San Jose de Buenavista. Provincial Engineer Inocencio Dajao Jr. reported on January 22, 2025, that the project has reached a 30 percent completion rate, despite a slight delay of 5 percent caused by adverse weather conditions. The target completion date is set for September 2025, with foundational work, embankment, and structural steel already completed.

The new facility is designed to accommodate approximately 20 offices. Governor Rhodora Cadiao has spearheaded the initiative to relocate the capitol from the congested business center of San Jose de Buenavista, where the existing 60-year-old building stands. The decision to move to a new 6.4-hectare site in Barangay Badiang aims to create a more efficient one-stop government service hub, which will also include other national government offices and the Hall of Justice.
