Two More Officers Arrested in Connection with P6.7-B Drug Case, 17 Now in Custody

In a recent development in the mishandling of the PHP6.7-billion drug seizure in Manila from October 2022, two additional police officers have been apprehended in Pasay City. The arrests took place in Barangay 70 around 7:20 p.m. on Monday, as reported by the Philippine National Police on Tuesday. The officers, holding the ranks of Chief Master Sergeant and Master Sergeant, join a total of 17 out of the 29 wanted officers now detained. Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group mentioned that some of the remaining 12 officers at large are considering turning themselves in. The Manila Regional Trial Court Branches 175 and 44 have issued arrest warrants for these 29 current and former officers, accused of planting evidence and mishandling the prosecution of suspects during the drug operation. The PNP has established Task Force 29 to pursue these officers.
