In 2024, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region (DSWD-11) successfully distributed over 1.1 million family food packs, valued at PHP600 million. The agency also provided non-food items worth over PHP26 million. This initiative was part of a broader effort to support the community, with 303,288 individuals receiving emergency cash transfers and 118,631 families benefiting from the Lawa at Binhi program. The Lawa at Binhi initiative, which includes projects like LAWA and BINHI, focuses on building climate and disaster-resilient communities by constructing water reservoirs to aid farmers during dry spells. DSWD-11’s Disaster Response and Management Division is dedicated to assisting communities during disasters through relief, rehabilitation, and preparing for future events. Additionally, the region saw 412,031 beneficiaries receiving aid totaling more than PHP2.3 billion, which included food assistance of PHP1.07 billion, medical assistance of PHP996.7 million, and other forms of support. Looking ahead to 2025, DSWD-11 plans to continue its support for individuals and families facing various crises, including medical, burial, transportation, education, and financial needs.
